Solar Hot Water System Benefits

Save the Environment

Gas and electric water heaters are one of the single biggest domestic energy users and an electric water heater can be responsible for up to a third of greenhouse gas emissions in the average home. A simple way to reduce your energy use and the subsequent greenhouse gas emissions is to install a Solahart solar water heater.

Not only will you make big savings in your energy costs, using the sun's free energy is great for the environment. A family of four with a Solahart water heater can save up to 3 or 4 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions compared to a conventional electric water heater. That's the same as taking a small car off the road so you can imagine the benefits for our future generations and the future of the planet.

Save on Energy

By using the sun’s free energy you can reduce your hot water energy consumption by between 50% and 90%* depending on the unit, the installation and where you live. That’s up to 90% less gas or electricity which needs to be produced.

All Solahart solar collector panels are coated with a dark, heat-absorbent surface. This coating absorbs the suns rays and heats the cold fluid in the solar panel. As the fluid heats, it rises to the top of the collector panel and into the tank where it displaces cooler fluid which flows in to the bottom of the collector panel where the process is repeated.

The greater the temperature difference between the fluid in the collector panels and the water in the tank the faster the flow between them.

In open circuit systems the fluid in the collector panel is water while in closed circuit systems a special fluid called, Hartgard, is used. When heated in the collector panel, it is circulated in a jacket around the tank to transfer the heat to the water inside.

In this way Solahart systems constantly soak up the sun's energy to ensure you have hot water, on tap, everyday.

Save on Water Heating Costs

Reducing your energy usage will give you real dollar savings every day. An average home can expect to save around $300* off their energy bills - year after year. And with the way energy costs are increasing around the world, the savings could be even greater.

Because it’s so incredibly efficient, a Solahart water heater will more than pay for itself over the life of the system. That’s something no conventional water heater can claim.

* Savings of 50% - 90% shown are based on Australian Government approved TRNSYS simulation modelling. Savings and incentives will vary depending upon your location, type of Solahart system installed, orientation and inclination of the solar collectors, type of water heater being replaced, hot water consumption and fuel tariff. Maximum financial savings off your hot water bill are achievable when replacing an electric water heater on continuous tariff.
